Steven Hall

Steven Hall is an accomplished, formally trained oil painter based in Melbourne. His art is steeped in memory, art history, lived experience, in situ sketches, photographs, found objects and archival reference. His practice explores notions of self and identity, the subjective existential experience and the transformation of everyday reality. Hall’s subject matter is diverse, featuring wildflowers, cityscapes, portraiture, nouveau gothic, modern myth and magical realism.

Hall has been exhibiting his still life, en plein air, landscape, figurative and abstract work for nearly twenty years in shows across the Australian east coast, as well as taking commission work for private collectors.
