Alison Percy
Alison Percy is an Australian artist exploring the land, the figure and the flower.
Referencing traditional Japanese calligraphy, Percy combines her fascination of fluid forms with her knowledge and passion of colour. Her style is clean but lyrical and gives notion to a previous career in illustration; with which she continues to engage with this interesting tension between art and design through her semi-abstract paintings. Percy's work is full of movement and rhythm, juxtaposing vibrant and muted tones as part of her continuous study of colour.
Based in Albury on the border of Victoria and New South Wales, Percy has worked in the creative industries for over 30 years. Originally training as a graphic designer, she have also freelanced as an interior design consultant and calligrapher. Percy has always had an eye for detail that suited a career in the arts.
Since Percy's first solo exhibition in 2015, she continues to exhibit several times a year and her work has been featured in publications such as Belle, The Design Files and Est Living. She also tutors at the Murray Art Museum Albury, a role Percy relishes as an opportunity to provide the guidance she wishes she'd had at the start of her own artistic journey. Percy also accepts a limited number of commissions each year, as well as having a selection of works regularly available.
