Carrie Retallack

Carrie Retallack is a digital artist and graphic designer based in Melbourne. Inspired by natural forms, Retallack draws from a palette of rich textures, dynamic compositions and lustful colour combinations. Retallack’s process involves using her own photographs and finding imagery that she can manipulate to recreate the textures and patterns that exist within nature, by digitally layering, twisting and forming them through an intuitive process of both considered curation and uninhibited exploration.

Superficially, her works feature many familiar floral, landscape and abstract subject matters, however a continuous theme of intentional misrepresentation is interwoven. Various textures are layered to mimic alternative aesthetic forms, often far from their true origins, questioning the basis of our ingrained sense of perception.
