Feature Artist: Kate Hopkinson-Pointer

Kate Hopkinson-Pointer is a Sydney artist with a long successful career as both an artist and gallery owner. Kate’s nude pieces convey the beauty and freedom of pose seen in classical artworks, while the vibrant colour and expressive lines in her jungle and floral pieces reflect the energy of the impressionists.

In her latest body of work, Kate delved deeper into her portrait work, exploring the connection between the human figure and their surroundings in the most natural form. The wild tangle of leaves and flowers are celebrated alongside the fleshy lines and gaze of her figures, completely at ease in their shared existence. Together, her pieces reflect the quiet, tender moments in the natural world.

“Earlier in my painting career I was known for painting nudes. I have always had a strong fascination with the human form. It is always the basis of my artistic process, as drawing the human form always helps with any facet of my work; be it landscape or nudes.”
