Feature Artist: Carley Bourne

Carley is a contemporary, abstract artist based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, after emigrating 12 years ago from England. Working from her home studio close to Noosa Heads, Carley takes a lot of her inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding her and the tropical coastal lifestyle.

Carley is a successful emerging artist, with a free, fanciful and intuitive way of letting her artistic visions flow. Her love for the natural world, flora, botanicals and landscapes excites her artistic imagination. She particularly has a fondness for the tropics and Australian native florals. Carley has worked on and developed her craft over many years and uses various techniques to create a unique style, different to most.

Carley produces unique, abstract impressions full of colour, forms and marks with a floral and botanical theme using a variety of media including acrylics, oil pastels, watercolours and charcoal to create her distinctive style.

Carley’s work was recently featured on Channel Seven's TV show House Rules (2020). Carley has also been part of group exhibitions on the Sunshine Coast, and has artwork shortlisted in various art prizes and competitions such as the 2020 Gorman Artist Collab competition. Carley has worked as an artist in residence in art galleries and participated in open studios. Her work is held by private collectors throughout Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland and Singapore.
